Lokku - Product Intern, India (Paid)

Read the general info here. We're looking for an exceptional new team member to help us establish Nestoria India.

Please apply if:

• you are an expert on India.
  
  You have lived in India for an extended period of time. You get sentimental when you think about the good times you had playing Gilli-danda. If someone dropped you off in Mumbai tomorrow you'd know where to get the best curry and the cheapest drinks.
  
  
• You are fluent in Indian English, can read and speak Hindi and ideally several other major Indian languages.
  
  We need someone who speaks with a local English voice (not this nonsense that the cockneys here in London jabber). Yes, we know India has a lot of languages, the more you feel conversant in the better.
  
  
• you're smart, hard working, and a fast learner.
  
  We don't expect you to be an expert. We do expect you to be ready to dive in.
  
  
• you're web savvy.
  
  You have more than 200 friends on Orkut and Facebook. You're compulsive about checking Google Analytics to see how many people are reading your blog.
  
  
• you get excited about creating an amazing user experience.
  
  We want to impress in every way. Across the world we now have over 2,000,000 very demanding users a month. We're looking forward to serving several crore more.
  
  
• you enjoy working with a passionate and highly international team.
  
  This is more than slapping together a little 'mash-up'. Think of our team is like the IPL - superstars from all over the world trying to work together for greatness.
  
  
• you have at least 6-8 hours per week for the next three to six months.
  
  You'll learn a lot. That doesn't happen overnight. We're flexible on when you work. What matters is that the job gets done.
  
  
• you have communication skills on par with your internet understanding.
  
  We value your ability to generate ideas, provide feedback, and communicate with our international team as much as your writing skills.
  
  
• you're in London.
  
  That's where we are. We're not hiring remote workers. We're looking forward to some intense and fast paced face-to-face brainstorming sessions. You need to be in London. We're based near Clerkenwell.
  
  
• you have an excellent command of geography, especially Indian geography.
  
  You like maps. A lot. Your favourite website is OpenStreetMap India.

No. If it's money you're after go work in the sub-basement of a bank gathering requirements for an obscure back end system that no one will care about. If you want the chance to work on critical projects, to have a voice in designing complex systems, to have your ideas be valued, and to learn an exceptional amount in a very short period of time then this is the place for you.

Yes. You'll be learning from internet veterans. You'll be working on a very visible project. You'll have your ideas rigorously peer reviewed, and be expected to rigorously review the work of others. You'll work in an international team tackling complex problems. You'll have direct exposure to the company's founders and be able to say "I was there back when...". In short, when a recruiter asks you "Tell me what you did at Lokku." you'll have answers that will blow him away.
